The Site Is Alive
It's live. After more late nights than we'd like to admit, Pansy Sundays finally has a home on the internet - and it doesn't look like anywhere else.
A shop that feels like a desktop
We didn't want another scrolling storefront. You know the kind: a hero image, a grid of products, a footer full of links. They're fine, but also they're everywhere - they're also a little soulless.
So instead, the whole site is built like an old computer desktop. A wallpaper with little icons. Windows you can actually pick up and drag around the screen. Open the Products window, shuffle it to the side, pull up the Player, stack them however you like. Nothing is locked in place. It's meant to be poked at.
If that sounds impractical for selling things - it kind of is, and that's the point. I wanted browsing here to feel like rummaging through a drawer of nice objects, not filling out a form.
On doing it the hard way
Building something this custom means there's no template to fall back on - every window, every animation, every edge case is hand-made. Pretty on brand for PS. This also meant plenty of things broke along the way, got fixed, broke again, and eventually settled into place. (?) That back-and-forth is invisible in the final result, but it's most of the work.
We are believers in making things slowly and deliberately, the same way the products themselves are made. A site should carry some of that intention, too.
Come in and look around
So: welcome. Open a few windows. Drag them around. Find the things that aren't strictly necessary - they're the ones I'm most fond of.
The site is alive. Make yourself at home in it.
